Khabib Abdulmanapovich Nurmagomedov, a professional mixed martial artist better known as Khabib Nurmagomedov one of the greatest fighters of all time in the sport of MMA was born on the 20th of September 1988 in the Sildi village, Tsumadinsky District, Dagestan ASSR, Russian SFSR which was a part of the Soviet Union at the time. Born as Khabib on April 11, 1987, the second of the three siblings of Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov, the father and a varrior from an Avar family with a rich background of an athlete who actively participated in the Soviet Army and a mother.

Being born and raised in a family that was into martial arts, Khabib started wrestling, at the age of eight, under his father’s training. He started practicing judo at the age of 12 and came back to combat sambo, which is a development of both judo and sambo, at the age of 17. Khabib actually made his professional MMA debut in September 20, 2008 and had his first fight in the Russian M-1 Selection tournament where he had an excellent 16-0 record before joining the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).

Khabib signed a six-fight contract with UFC in late 2011 and thus he stepped into the Octagon, where he fought for the first time on January 20, 2012 at the UFC on FX 1: Browne vs. Lester event, beating Kamal Shalorus by submission in round 3. He then faced Gleison Tibau on July 7, 2012 at UFC 148 where he won by unanimous decision after all three judges scored the fight 30-27. Consequently, Khabib was able to display his talents in a title fight against Conor McGregor at UFC 229 on October 6, 2018 where he defeated the Irishman through submission in the fourth round to captured UFC lightweight title.
